Foundation (“Foundation”)!! On Friday December 9 Dr. Susan Bushelman and Karla Kennedy Executive Director of the NKMS delivered a check to Rosana Aydt Executive Director of Faith Community Pharmacy. The Pharmacy is so blessed by the Foundation. Rosana was so pleased to receive the donation and in response to the donation Rosana replied "we are so fortunate that our Physicians understand the community need and our mission. It is because of donations like these that we are able to continue to serve those less fortunate." Faith Community Pharmacy's mission is to provide necessary medications and pharmaceutical care free of charge to those unable to pay, without regard to race, creed or national origin. Since opening in 2002 the Pharmacy has dispensed more than 19 million dollars of life saving prescription medication to residents in Northern KY who are uninsured and under insured. The Pharmacy like other non profits are always in need of donations. Our clients are often forced to chose between gas, rent, food or their lifesaving medication. The Pharmacy removes that difficult choice allowing them to continue to work or look for employment and provide for their families. The pharmacy is prohibited by law from dispensing controlled substances and from charging for any medication. For more information on the Pharmacy or to make a donation please visit us at www.faithcommunitypharmacy. The Foundation began in the 1960’s and was known as the President’s Fund. In 2000 the Foundation was formally organized, as a non-profit corporation, as the Northern Kentucky Medical Society Foundation. The Foundation will continue to support communities in the Northern Kentucky area by providing scholarship opportunities to medial school students and financial assistance to non-profit organizations focused on providing healthcare programs. If you would like to make a donation to the Foundation, please contact Karla Kennedy at (859) 496-6567 or via email nkms@nkms.org. #####

Northern Kentucky Medical Society Foundation helps support homeless clinic The Northern Kentucky Medical Society Foundation (“Foundation”) has donated $5,000 to the Pike Street Clinic for the Homeless in Covington. On Friday December 9, Dr. Susan Bushelman presented a check to Sr. Ann John of the Pike Street Clinic. “We appreciate very much the Medical Society Foundation’s generous donation,” said HealthPoint chief executive officer Chris Goddard. “The goals of the Pike Street Clinic are improved health for homeless people and preventing medical problems before they become emergencies or life-threatening conditions. Ill health also may prevent homeless people from achieving a more stable lifestyle.” The walk-in clinic, operated since 1989 by the nonprofit HealthPoint Family Care, provides medical care at no cost to the homeless of Northern Kentucky. Services at the Pike Street clinic include medical screenings, TB tests, immunizations, foot care, blood pressure and diabetes screenings and follow-ups, and lab testing. Prescription drugs also are dispensed at no cost to the patients. Many patients return regularly to receive treatment for chronic conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Last year, homeless patients made 2,280 visits to the clinic, which is open three mornings a week. The Pike Street Clinic is supported by grants and donations and volunteer time from several Northern Kentucky physicians and nurses.
